Bangladesh will host Zimbabwe for a two-Test series starting on April 20th. Initially scheduled for April 2024, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had requested Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) to play five T20Is instead at that time.

The Zimbabwe team is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on April 15th. Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will be the venue for the first Test. Following this, the teams will travel to Chattogram for the second Test, which will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium from April 28th. This series is not part of the World Test Championship as Zimbabwe is not a participating team.

Zimbabwe’s recent Test performance has been challenging, having lost eight of their last ten matches and drawing the remaining two. This year, they played two single-Test series against Afghanistan and Ireland in Bulawayo, losing both. Their last Test victory was in March 2021 against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

In contrast, Bangladesh has found Test success primarily in overseas conditions recently. They achieved a 2-0 victory in Pakistan and drew 1-1 against the West Indies. However, their last home Test win was in November 2023 against New Zealand in Sylhet. In 2024, they faced home series losses of 2-0 against both Sri Lanka and South Africa.

The last Test match Bangladesh hosted against Zimbabwe was in February 2020, where they secured an innings and 106-run victory. The most recent Test encounter between these two teams was in July 2021, resulting in a 220-run win for Bangladesh in Harare.

Historically, Bangladesh holds a slight advantage over Zimbabwe in Test matches, with 8 wins to Zimbabwe’s 7 in 18 encounters. Zimbabwe’s last Test win against Bangladesh dates back to 2018.
