New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears will play for Yorkshire in the 2025 season. He is set to arrive in time for their second County Championship match against Worcestershire.

Sears, known for his fast bowling, made a strong impression in his Test debut against Australia in 2024. In that match, he took five wickets, including a four-wicket haul in the second innings.

He will join another New Zealand player, Will O’Rourke, at Headingley. O’Rourke is signed for the T20 Blast. Comparisons have been drawn between Sears and Lockie Ferguson, another fast bowler from New Zealand who previously played for Yorkshire.

Sears expressed his excitement about joining Yorkshire and playing with his new teammates. He is eager to contribute to the team’s success, especially in the early part of the season.

Yorkshire Head Coach Anthony McGrath highlighted Sears’ talent and ability to generate extra bounce. He believes Sears will be a valuable asset, particularly in the early season conditions.

Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s General Manager of Cricket, emphasized the club’s global appeal in attracting talented players like Sears. He sees Sears as an exciting addition to the squad who will bring a crucial element to their game this season.

Yorkshire is looking forward to welcoming Ben Sears to Headingley in April.
