Maelstorm’s Opinion on Aurora Gaming’s Performance with a Stand-in at PGL Wallachia Season 3

Dota 2 commentator and analyst Vladimir ‘Maelstorm’ Kuzminov has shared his opinion on Aurora Gaming’s decision to play with a stand-in at PGL Wallachia Season 3. He expressed his thoughts on his personal Telegram channel.

Aurora will participate in PGL Wallachia, but with a significant change. While the team tag and four out of five players will remain the same, the substitution of Kyotaka with Lorenof essentially creates a completely different team. It will be nearly impossible to accurately assess the future potential of either lineup based on the results of this tournament. Only a complete failure might suggest that forming this roster was a mistake, whereas even a first-place finish wouldn’t reveal much about the original team’s capabilities.

Why is this the case? Consider the performance of Tundra and GG before and after roster changes involving key players like Dyrachyo. Replacing even a single player can have a massive impact, especially when it’s a mid-laner of Kyotaka’s caliber.

Aurora Gaming announced their updated roster on February 28th. PGL Wallachia Season 3 is set to be the first tournament for this team. However, they will be competing with a stand-in. Due to visa issues, mid-laner Gleb ‘kiyotaka’ Zyryanov will miss the competition, and his place will be taken by Artem ‘Lorenof’ Melnik.
